Director

 

Priyesh Modi, a qualified and practicing attorney, has over 20-years’ experience in advising clients on corporate and commercial transactions.  Prior to establishing Advaya, Priyesh was a director in Bowman Corporate/Mergers and Acquisitions practice where he advised both multi-national and local clients on a range of corporate law and commercial issues, including on domestic and cross border private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and black economic empowerment transactions, and provided general corporate and commercial support. Priyesh has gained comprehensive and multifaceted experiences and has advised clients across numerous sectors including telecommunications, industrial, health, and security.  Priyesh has an excellent grasp of Company Law and Practice and is regarded as a trusted advisor by his clients.  Priyesh has worked closely with various legal firms in Africa, giving him access to a network of professionals that can support cross-border transactions on the continent.​

 

Priyesh holds a B. Proc, LLB degrees from the University of Witwatersrand and LLM degree from the then Rand Afrikaans University.

Nicole Matisonn

Nicci has practiced as a commercial attorney for 18 years. Prior to joining Advaya she was the partner of the commercial department of a boutique corporate law firm in Cape Town.  She subsequently consulted to various law firms as well as assisted private persons and corporate entities. She specialises in commercial transactions, including drafting of material agreements including loan and facility agreements, security documents, sale of business agreements, sale of share agreements, confidentiality agreements, shareholders agreements and memorandums of incorporation. 

She holds a BCom LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Mia Gibson
Consultant

Mia has practiced as an attorney, notary public and conveyancer for over 20 years. Prior to joining Advaya she was the lead partner of the real estate department of a boutique corporate law firm where she assisted most of the banks, various funds (both listed and unlisted) as well as private clients.  She subsequently consulted to one of the large global law firms. Her practice has included the drafting of all property related agreements, advising on the structure of acquisitions and the financing thereof, joint venture agreements, engineering procurement and construction agreements, public private partnerships, the sale of petrol stations, pharmacies, hotels and shopping centers. She has also served two terms as an acting judge to the Western Cape High Court.

 

She holds a BBusSciLLB from the University of Cape Town.

Alistair Collins
Consultant

 

Alistair has over 20 years of experience as a dual-qualified (English and South African) commercial lawyer specialising in banking and finance, restructuring and insolvency law. Alistair has advised lenders and borrowers on a range of financing transactions including acquisition, leveraged, project, trade and commodity, asset backed, securitisation, capital markets, corporate and structured finance transactions. Alistair has advised South African, UK, European, Asian and U.S. banks and financial institutions, trade finance funds as well as obligors and has focussed on domestic and cross-border transactional matters, assisting clients with structuring advice, document drafting, negotiation and transaction closure.

 

Alistair’s career spans working in both London for 10 years at Kennedys LLP, Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group and in Johannesburg as a partner at Bowmans and a senior lawyer at Allen & Overy, Baker & McKenzie and Pinsent Masons. Alistair is currently the non-executive chairman of JSE Alt-X listed mining conglomerate, Mantengu Mining Limited.
